February is Black History Month, and at Strides Toronto, we’re committed to honouring the rich experiences and voices of Black authors. This month, we invite you to join us on a journey of reflection and learning through literature. Our first featured book is “The Skin We’re In” by Desmond Cole. In this powerful narrative, Cole shares his experiences as an anti-racist activist, shedding light on crucial issues such as police brutality, immigration, systemic racism, and the impacts of colonialism on Indigenous communities in Canada.
Together, let’s engage in meaningful conversations about these important themes and uplift the voices that have shaped and continue to influence our society. Stay tuned for more book recommendations throughout the month!
